Après avoir disparu en mer pendant dix ans, le bateau Le Paradise rentre au port. À son bord, se trouve Aspen une mystérieuse enfant recueillie en haute mer par l'équipage. Adoptée par le capitaine Matthews, Aspen devient biologiste marine. C'est quand elle part pour son premier poste en mer qu'elle découvre sa vrai nature. Elle n'est pas une simple humaine...
